Pedestrian Struck Dead Leaving Sheetz: York County Coroner

A man was struck dead crossing a road in York County on Monday evening, authorities announced.

The unidentified 58-year-old was hit by a 2001 Dodge Caravan driven by a 69-year-old Dillsburg man heading north in the far right lane of Carlisle Road near York Crossing Drive, West Manchester Police explained in a release on Tuesday. 

The man was walking from Sheetz diagonally, not in a crosswalk, when he was struck around 9:15 p.m. on Sept. 4, according to the York County Coroner's Office report. 

His time of death was 10:10 p.m. as certified by Deputy Coroner Scott Pennewell.

His official cause and manner of death are pending and will be released, along with his name, after his next of kin have been notified, the coroner's office explained. 

No other injuries were reported. 

In addition to the police and coroner's office, West Manchester Township Fire Department, First Capital EMS, and fire police from our surrounding municipalities assisted at the scene.
